It is advised to hold an original medical insurance for the entire period of your intended stay before traveling abroad. You should consider buying medical evacuation and emergency medical insurance beside your health, accident and hospital expenses coverage. Caution is advised in Xaysoumboun Province, where several armed assaults have been reported over the last months. It is possible that some districts are closed by the police and subjected to a curfew.
Furthermore, several armed assaults by non-identified aggressors took place on route n°13 in Phou Khoun/ Kasi region in the north of Vang Vieng. As this road is in bad condition, it is advised to travel from Vientiane to Luang Prabang by air.
