The handing over ceremony and inauguration of the new Bolikhamxay Provincial Hospital
The handing over ceremony and inauguration of the new Bolikhamxay Provincial Hospital took place on 10 July 2018 in Paksane. The construction and equipment of the hospital has been funded by Luxembourg under the Lao-Luxembourg Health Sector Support Programme (LAO/027) implemented by LuxDev - Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency .
The new Bolikhamxay Provincial Hospital – with a total of 140 beds - comprises 3 high-tech operating theatres, a central sterilizing department, an expanded maternity department complete with two delivery rooms, as well as radiology and laboratory departments. Specialized outpatient services include dentistry, physiotherapy, ear-nose-throat and eye clinics.
A total of 180 staff will work at the hospital, of which 30 are medical doctors and specialists, and 75 nurses and midwives.
The ceremony was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Bounkong Syhavong, Minister of Health, Dr. Kongkeo Xaysongkham, Governor of Bolikhamxay Province, Dr. Kikeo Chanthabouly, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, and Mr. Claude Jentgen, Chargé d’affaires of Luxembourg in Lao PDR.
