The 2nd Sub-Sector Working Group (SSWG) on Rural Development was opened today in Vientiane
The 2nd Sub-Sector Working Group (SSWG) on Rural Development was opened today in Vientiane under the chairmanship of Mr. Khamouane Khamphoukeo, Deputy Director general of the Department of Rural Development and Cooperatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the co-chairmanship of Mr. Claude Jentgen, Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Luxembourg.
Presentations and discussions during the meeting focus on the importance of land governance and land management to promote rural development and uplift people out of poverty, on the poverty reduction fund, and on financial inclusion for rural areas. It is expected that the work of the SSWG will feed into policy development and approaches on the ground, and link to the round table process (RTM).
Luxembourg provides long-term technical assistance to the Sub-Sector Working Group through LuxDev - Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency .
